DANCE OF THE WILD is a WHITE RAVEN 2018
It gives us utmost pleasure to share that our book DANCE OF THE WILD is a WHITE RAVEN 2018! This is our first title to make this coveted list, and we are beyond ourselves with joy, pride and gratitude.
The International Youth Library’s (Munich) collates a prestigious annual catalogue of book recommendations from around the world for the young. The 200 titles in 38 languages from 59 countries in this year’s White Ravens are seen as making a noteworthy contribution to the field international children’s and youth literature. DANCE OF THE WILD is the only one from India this year.
The 200 short reviews are available in the White Ravens database here.
The printed catalogue will be launched at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2018. A selection of books from the catalogue will be displayed on October 11th on the Kids Stage in the Foyer of Hall 5.1 / 6.1. We will miss this special presentation, but we hope our friends and colleagues from India will be there to cheer for us!
This is how the White Ravens describes out book:
“Richa Jha’s playful, gently flowing text is paired with (Ruchi Mhasane’s) vibrant colour pencil illustrations in soft hues that portray Shilu’s healthy self-esteem and pride in her body still unencumbered by embarrassment or societal norms. Told entirely from the young girl’s point of view, the book delivers an enchanting tale of family love, curiosity, and freedom of expression.”
Congratulations Richa Jha and Ruchi Mhasane! We raise a toast to you!
